Globalization has transformed the entire world and people from different countries are settling in the western hemisphere at a fast rate. Language barrier:

One issue that every doctor faces in such a situation is the language barrier. People from Asia, Africa, and other areas are challenging patients for the doctors because of the language barrier. They do not know how to connect with the patient because at times, the patient does not know English and it becomes almost impossible to extract the history of the patient. In addition to it, cultural competency has become a reality in recent times. For instance, if a patient comes to you and he is from Asia and only knows Chinese, it will become impossible for the doctor to treat him or her because of the lack of medical history. The doctor might prescribe him medicine on the basis of the evident symptoms but fixing the core issue would remain unnoticed.

Importance of cultural competency in medicine!

The concept of cultural competency has increased in the medical field as people in the medical field have developed the ability to accept diversity and cultural differences. People come from different races and socio-economic conditions and these things can affect the patient’s treatment. For this reason, physicians are now cultivating the trend of cultural competency and are asking for more acceptance towards people belonging to different backgrounds. In addition to it, you can also pay attention to the importance of inclusion than exclusion. The concept of coexistence is prevailing in various parts of the world and in western democracies, there is great acceptance for people belonging to different classes. Therefore, it is essential for the physicians to have a more inclusive approach while addressing the diverse elements within them because the world has become a global state and it is the duty of every physician to ensure that everything goes normally by adopting the policy of inclusion.
